Viktoria Morvayova enters the Chennai Open as a lucky loser, having been beaten in the final round of qualifying before receiving a place in the main draw. Polina Kudermetova has enjoyed a stronger campaign, highlighted by reaching the Canberra and Oeiras WTA 125 finals. She is the number six seed in Chennai and now ranked inside the world’s top 100.
