Brandon Nakashima is enjoying the best year of his career so far, having reached the final of the Canadian Open and the semi-finals in Cincinnati.

The 25-year-old American comes into Paris hoping to end the season on a high, but he has a tough assignment as he comes up against Matteo Berrettini.

It has not been a great year by Berrettini’s high standards. Aside from his run to the quarter-finals of the French Open, his performances at the major events this year have been mediocre at best. None of his recent wins have come against players who are arguably better than him, and it is difficult to have much confidence in him in Paris this week.

He meets Nakashima, whom he faced in Shanghai just a few weeks ago, when Nakashima emerged victorious 7-6, 7-5 in an entertaining and close match that the American ultimately edged.
