Alex Michelsen vs Jiri Lehecka prediction

Alex Michelsen returns to Paris hoping to do better than on his two previous visits to the French capital, which have yielded just one win.

Michelsen’s recent form has been solid enough without being spectacular, and he has not been helped by some tough draws since his run to the quarter-finals of the US Open. He has been handed another tough opening match as he meets Czech star Jiri Lehecka.

The 24-year-old is coming off a run to the final of the Swiss Indoors in Basel, where he lost in three sets to an inspired Valentin Vacherot. Lehecka has been playing some excellent tennis over the last month, and his good performances on the Asian leg of the ATP Tour have continued on his return to Europe.

He has had plenty of matches in recent times, and it will be interesting to see whether he is fresh coming into this week or shows any signs of fatigue following his recent exploits. Michelsen is one player capable of exploiting any potential fatigue.

The pair have met twice before, with Michelsen winning at the Australian Open back in 2024 and Lehecka winning on clay in Madrid earlier this year, but there is not a great deal to take from those previous meetings.

On form and momentum, we have to go with Lehecka, who clearly has the edge over Michelsen in that department. Barring any fatigue from his exploits in Basel, we lean towards the 24-year-old Czech to progress, as his recent performances give us more reason for confidence.
