Himeno Sakatsume vs Tereza Valentova prediction

Himenso Sakatsume won both of her qualifying matches to enter the main draw at the Hong Kong Tennis Open. She has two tour-level main draw victories this season, in the first-round of both Indian Wells and the US Open. Sakatsume has also reached three lower-tier semi-finals in 2026 but is yet to advance to a final. Her ranking is up to 129 in the world. 

Sakatsume takes on Tereza Valentova in the first-round. Valentova has played just two tournaments since a hip injury forced her to miss the US Open in August. She lost in the second-round to Lilli Tagger in Osaka, though she did qualify in Tokyo after two straight victories, with Valentova going on to lose to Mia Pohankova. Her best result on the WTA Tour this season was a semi-final appearance at the Prague Open during the summer. 

Valentova is still finding her way back to full sharpness after two months out, but she should have too much quality for Sakatsume in the first-round.
