Linda Fruhvirtova returns to the scene of her only WTA Tour singles title, having won the Chennai Open in 2022 as a 17-year-old. The Czech has struggled to reproduce that early success consistently, but her experience at tour level makes her a dangerous opponent. Fruhvirtova lost heavily to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in Suzhou before suffering a narrow defeat to Mei Yamaguchi in Guangzhou qualifying. 

Weronika Falkowska arrives with the advantage of two qualifying victories, although both required three sets. The Polish player defeated Jensi Dipakbhai Kanabar and Viktoria Morvayova to reach the main draw. Her 2026 achievements include winning the Warsaw WTA doubles title alongside Alana Smith, but she has not tasted singles success this year.
