Oksana Selekhmeteva made the semi-finals of the Tolentino WTA 125 in September, defeating Ekaterine Gorgodze in three sets before losing 7-6 (5) 6-1 to Julia Grabher. Her recent form has been inconsistent, with three defeats in her last five matches. Selekhmeteva’s latest appearance came at the Valle d’Aosta Ladies Open, where she defeated Adrienn Nagy before losing in three sets to Elizara Yaneva. She did advance to the third-round of the Australian Open right at the start of the year, beating former world number two Paula Badosa along the way.

She now faces Teodora Kostovic in Chennai. Kostovic has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, highlighted by reaching the Ankara WTA 125 final in September. The 19-year-ol defeated Polina Iatcenko in the semi-finals before a loss to Berfu Cengiz. She also reached the quarter-finals in Sao Paulo. Kostovic qualified for the Guangzhou Open last week, losing to Maria Timofeeva in round one.
