Alex de Minaur vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction
Alex de Minaur notched up one of the best wins of his career following a three set win over incoming world number one Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals of the Vienna Open. De Minaur began strongly and kept his composure in the deciding set tiebreak to win 6-4 1-6 7-6 (4). He has moved up to ninth place in the Race for Turin, leapfrogging Rafael Jodar.
He will now face second seed Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard reached his fifth final of the season after beating Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz lost to Medvedev at Indian Wells earlier this season, but he exacted revenge with a 6-4 7-6 (2) victory. He has won his last 25 matches at ATP 500 level.
Alcaraz dominates the head-to-head, leading 6-0 overall. They last faced each other at the quarter-final stage of this year’s Australian Open, with the 23-year-old easily winning 7-5 6-2 6-1. They have also met in the final of an indoor tournament, with Alcaraz winning in Rotterdam last year. De Minaur will look to frustrate Alcaraz with his consistency from the baseline, but the seven-time Grand Slam champion is yet to drop a set this week and will be a commanding favourite.
