Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction
Daniil Medvedev advanced to a fifth semi-final in a row after beating Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The former world number one needed to save a match point in his round-of-16 match against Cameron Norrie, but he enjoyed a far more comfortable outing this time around, winning 6-2 6-3. Medvedev has won 18 of his last 20 matches since the US Open, including two titles in Hangzhou and Almaty.
He will face second seed Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard advanced to the last four after overcoming Tommy Paul in straight sets. Alcaraz produced a first serve percentage of 82%, winning 6-4 7-6 (2). He has now won 24 straight matches at ATP 500 level.
The 23-year-old leads the head-to-head 6-3, though Medvedev did win their last meeting as he ended Alcaraz’s unbeaten start to the season at Indian Wells. Medvedev is enjoying his best run for quite some time and has momentum on his side, but Alcaraz has always seemed to trouble the Russian with his greater attacking variety. This has the makings of a thoroughly competitive encounter between two former world number ones.
Daniil Medvedev vs Carlos Alcaraz tip: Over 22.5 games
