Luca Van Assche vs Mariano Navone prediction
Luca Van Assche returns to Paris, where he lives, and the 22-year-old will be hoping to get his first main-draw win at the Paris Masters.
Van Assche has an impressive record of performing well on home soil, having won three Challenger titles in France, and he will be eager to do well this week.
His recent form has been solid enough, and he picked up a couple of wins at the Lyon Open a fortnight ago, overcoming Clement Tabur and the in-form Valentin Vacherot before losing out in the quarter-finals to Lorenzo Musetti.
He takes on Mariano Navone, who has struggled for wins since the US Open, where he pulled off two memorable victories over Novak Djokovic and Matteo Berrettini. Since then he has lost his opening match in three of his last four tournaments on the ATP Tour, so he too will be hoping to get back on track here.
The pair have never met on tour, and while Navone has the greater experience, they have a very similar skill set, so it will be interesting to see how they measure up. There is little to split the two, but we like the home advantage for Van Assche, and the Parisian crowd will firmly get behind their man. We think that is enough to get him through this one.
