Anastasia Zakharova vs Polina Iatcenko prediction

Anastasia Zakharova only entered the main draw of the Guangzhou Open as a lucky loser, and she would go on to lose her first-round match to Magda Linette in straight sets. She did move up to a career high of 65 in the world back in April, but an inconsistent run of results has seen her drop out of the top 100. Zakharova’s best tour-level result in 2026 remains a quarter-final appearance in Memphis during the summer. 

Her first-round opponent in Chennai is Polina Iatcenko. The 22-year-old also lost in Guangzhou qualifying after a defeat to Alevtina Ibragimova. Her only tour-level win of the campaign arrived at the US Open, after a victory over Andrea Lazaro Garcia in the opening round. She did win a lower-tier event in Hurghada on grass during the summer, but she remains outside the world’s top 150 in the rankings.

Zakharova will be the favourite to win.
