Jan-Lennard Struff is enjoying a strong end to the season, and he was exceptional at the Swiss Indoors in Basel last week, picking up good wins over Yannick Hanfmann, Novak Djokovic and Nuno Borges en route to the semi-finals, before losing to Jiri Lehecka in three sets.

Struff will not be fearing anyone right now as he comes up against the young Frenchman Arthur Gea.

Gea enjoyed a fantastic run at the Shanghai Masters, where he beat compatriot Ugo Humbert, Ben Shelton and Jakub Mensik before being forced to retire from his quarter-final against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina with a leg issue.

He has not played since, so it will be interesting to see what condition he comes into this match in on day two. He will be desperate to do well in front of his home crowd, but he is coming up against an in-form and hugely experienced opponent in Struff.

With question marks over Gea’s fitness, we have to go with Struff to get the win here.
