Rafael Jodar vs Casper Ruud prediction

Both Rafael Jodar and Casper Ruud have a quick turnaround after their first-round triumphs on Monday, as they meet on day two in Paris.

Ruud eased past Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3, 6-2 on Monday with a comprehensive display in which he dominated all facets of the game. He has been playing some good tennis of late and is full of confidence, so it will be interesting to see how he measures up to the talented young Spaniard.

Jodar breezed past Tabilo 6-2, 6-3, and the result did not flatter the Spaniard, who was more than comfortable throughout. He will have to step it up a level here, but he is more than capable of doing that.

These two met only a couple of weeks ago in the Shanghai quarter-finals, when Jodar won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. There was very little to split them, but Jodar generated 15 break points on Ruud’s serve and converted five of them.

Ruud is going to have to find a way to serve better, as Jodar’s superb defence and return game stood out in that match and could very well be the decisive factor once again. It will be fascinating to see if Ruud can do anything different this time around, but we have to go with the young Spaniard to progress.
