The American fourth seed was too good through as she posted a 6-4 6-3 win over the Italian to clock up a second meeting with Diana Shnaider.

The Russian sixth seed was equally impressive as she ousted Alexandra Eala by a 7-5 6-4 scoreline.

Jovic won their maiden encounter 6-4 1-6 6-0 in Dubai earlier this year, but Shnaider is playing a higher level of tennis now.

This could well go three again with plenty of games likely.
