Valentin Vacherot vs Luca Van Assche prediction

Valentin Vacherot’s Shanghai Masters defence ended at the third-round stage, following a loss to Tommy Paul. Consequently, the Monegasque’s ranking has dropped to 32 in the world. He did impress at the Japan Open earlier this month, beating Arthur Fils on his way to the semi-finals. He also reached the semi-finals of his home event at the Monte-Carlo Masters back in April, losing to former world number one Carlos Alcaraz. Vacherot has also struggled with injury in 2026, and he will be looking for a strong finish to the year.

He received a bye in round one and now faces Luca Van Assche. The Frenchman won his first-round match after beating Clement Tabur in straight sets. Van Assche edged clear in the first set after winning the tiebreak, and that proved to be decisive as he went on to win 7-6 (3) 6-3.

I expect Vacherot to return to winning ways, but Van Assche should be able to make this competitive.
