James Duckworth vs Luciano Darderi prediction

James Duckworth ended a five-match losing run after beating Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets at the Almaty Open. The Australian converted three out of four break point opportunities, winning 6-3 6-4 after one hour and nine minutes. Duckworth finished as the runner up at this tournament in 2020.

He takes on Luciano Darderi in the next round. Darderi received a bye in round one as the second seed. The Italian lost his opening match at the Shanghai Masters to former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has improved his record away from clay this season, but can still be vulnerable to an early exit. He did win a title at the Chile Open during the Golden Swing earlier in the year. Furthermore, he advanced to the round-of-16 at the two hard court majors in Melbourne and New York. 

Darderi remains the favourite to progress to the quarter-finals in Almaty.
