Alexander Bublik vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Alexander Bublik advanced in Almaty via a walkover after his opponent Fabian Marozsan withdrew from the tournament before their match took place. Bublik’s last event was at the Shanghai Masters, which ended at the round-of-16 stage. Bublik lost out to top seed Alexander Zverev in a deciding set tiebreak. He is seeking a second title of the season, following success right at the start of the year at the Hong Kong Open.

He plays Karen Khachanov for a place in the last four. The Russian squeezed past Tomas Machac in three sets. Khachanov began strongly and easily went ahead after the first set, but Machac levelled in the second. Khachanov dug deep in the decider, saving four match points, and a fifth in the tiebreak to seal a dramatic 6-2 4-6 7-6 (7) victory. He also saved 14 out of 15 break point opportunities in total.

The head-to-head is currently 1-1 between the pair. Khachanov’s consistency should keep him competitive, though Bublik will look to generate plenty of cheap points on serve.
