Tomas Machac vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Tomas Machac advanced through at the Almaty Open after easily beating Zangar Nurlanuly. Machac was broken in his first service game and went 2-0 down, but then went on to reel off 12 games in a row to seal a dominant 6-2 6-0 victory after just 62 minutes on court.

He will face Karen Khachanov next. The two-time US Open semi-finalist also enjoying a comfortable opening match, beating Rei Sakamoto in straight sets. Khachanov, who won this event two years ago, did not concede a break point and won 93% of his points on first serve, winning 6-2 6-4. The Russian advanced to the round-of-16 at the Shanghai Masters earlier this month, before losing to Alex de Minaur.

Khachanov leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a four set win at the Australian Open in 2024. Machac is still lacking consistency since returning from injury, and he will have to raise his game further against Khachanov.
