Zangar Nurlanuly vs Tomas Machac prediction

Zangar Nurlanuly was handed a wildcard for this event and is set to make his tour-level debut in the main draw. The 18-year-old’s best result of the season was a semi-final appearance in Astona at a lower-level event. He will play Tomas Machac for a place in the second-round. 

The Czech picked up his first main draw victory since Roland Garros at the Shanghai Masters, following a victory over Zhizhen Zhang. Machac came from a set down to win 1-6 7-6 (3) 6-2. However, he was unable to build on that victory after a loss in the next round to Alexander Bublik. Machac then competed on the Challenger Tour in Jinan, defeating Alexandre Muller and Aleksandar Vukic without dropping a set to reach the quarter-finals, where he would lose to Liam Draxl. His season began so promisingly after winning the title in Adelaide, but the 26-year-old’s campaign has been affected by injury yet again.

Machac should have far too much quality for the inexperienced Nurlanuly in this first-round encounter.
