Facundo Diaz Acosta notched up an impressive victory in the first-round of the Almaty Open as he came from a set down to beat compatriot Thiago Agustin Tirante. Diaz Acosta dropped the first set on a tiebreak but remained unbroken on serve throughout the whole match, winning 6-7 (3) 6-1 6-4 after two hours and 19 minutes. That was his second tour-level victory of the campaign. The 25-year-old has won six Challenger Tour titles on clay in 2026.

His next opponent is Nikoloz Basilashvili. The Georgian produced an excellent performance to defeat former world number three Marin Cilic.
