Damir Dzumhur extended his winning streak to six matches after a three set win over Dino Prizmic in the first-round of the European Open. The Bosnian, who won a Challenger event in Olbia just a few days ago, improved in the deciding set to complete a 7-6 (2) 2-6 6-2 win after two hours and 43 minutes on court.

His next opponent is Zizou Bergs. The Belgian got his campaign up and running with a win against Toby Samuel. Bergs had beaten Samuel in the semi-finals of the Eastbourne Open back in June, on his way to this first-tour level title. He would notch up his second win over the Briton, winning 6-3 7-6 (3). Bergs defeated seven-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz at the Shanghai Masters, advancing to the round-of-16.

Dzumhur leads the overall head-to-head 2-0, after beating Bergs in two qualifiers during the early part of 2022. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old is now far more established on the tour and starts as the firm favourite.
