Daniel Altmaier vs Jiri Lehecka prediction
Daniel Altmaier took full advantage of his lucky loser spot, avenging his qualifying defeat to Juan Manuel Cerundolo by beating him in three sets on Monday.
The 28-year-old German really raised his game, firing down 14 aces and winning an impressive 80% of points on his first serve. He is going to have to hit those heights, if not higher, against his opponent in the round of 16, Jiri Lehecka.
Lehecka managed to put all the noise around Wawrinka’s retirement aside and piece together a strong, complete performance. He won 81% of points on his first serve and 86% on his second, as Wawrinka won just 11 points on the Lehecka serve.
Lehecka is playing some good tennis right now, and the 24-year-old could well go far this week. We expect him to have too much all-round quality for Altmaier, whose luck is likely to run out in this one.
