Maria Timofeeva vs Xinran Sun prediction

Maria Timofeeva progressed to the next round in Guangzhou after defeating Teodora Kostovic in straight sets. The 22-year-old converted six out of nine break point opportunities and raced ahead in the second set to win 6-4 6-1 after one hour and 35 minutes. Timofeeva has won four lower-level titles in 2026, claiming her most recent in Porto last month.

She faces 16-year-old Xinran Sun next. The US Open junior champion continued her development with a fine victory over Mananchaya Sawangkaew. Sun won 6-3 6-4. She also advanced to the third-round of the China Open, beating Eva Lys and Cristina Bucsa before falling to two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff.

Sun has shown plenty of potential over the last few weeks, and she has the attacking quality to make this a very competitive match. However, Timofeeva should be better equipped to handle the important points and is the more established player on tour.
