Novak Djokovic vs Ugo Humbert prediction

Novak Djokovic received a wildcard for the Swiss Indoors in Basel this week, and the 39-year-old legend will be hoping to take full advantage as he chases a spot at the ATP Finals.

That will be easier said than done, as his half of the draw is incredibly difficult in Basel this week, and his opening match against Ugo Humbert is far from easy.

With the air of invincibility around Djokovic completely gone, his opponents are less daunted about facing him, but the Serb has plenty of motivation right now as he chases ATP Finals qualification.

He takes on Humbert, 11 years his junior, for only the second time in his career, having previously beaten him in straight sets at Wimbledon back in 2019.

Humbert had a reasonably solid first half of the year, with some good performances on grass, especially at Queen’s and Eastbourne, but he has been relatively poor in the third quarter of 2026.

He will no doubt be motivated against Djokovic, but assuming there are no fitness issues with the Serb, we expect Djokovic to have enough in his locker, and to be fresh enough, to overcome the Frenchman.
