Hubert Hurkacz vs Arthur Fils prediction

Hubert Hurkacz returns to Basel, where he finished runner-up in 2023, and the powerful Pole will be hoping for another good week in Switzerland.

Hurkacz has enjoyed a strong month or so on the Asian leg of the ATP Tour, reaching the final in Chengdu and the semi-finals of the China Open, as well as the round of 16 in Shanghai.

Hurkacz will be hoping to do well in Switzerland, but this is a tough match as he takes on second seed Arthur Fils.

Fils is coming off a semi-final loss to Jan-Lennard Struff at the European Open in Brussels, which will have been something of a blow to him as top seed in that tournament.

The 22-year-old will look to bounce back immediately, and he will take some solace from the fact that he has already got the better of Hurkacz in their only previous meeting, at Wimbledon in 2024, when the Pole retired injured while behind.

Much will depend on the condition, physically and mentally, in which Fils comes into this match, and that makes us a little cautious when predicting the outcome.
