Ben Shelton vs Jerome Kym prediction

Ben Shelton blasted an incredible 44 aces en route to an incredibly narrow win over Aleksandar Kovacevic in a thrilling match that saw him lose a first-set tie-break before winning the second and third sets, both also on tie-breaks, as neither player had their serve broken.

Kovacevic played as well as he has for a long time, but Shelton managed to grind out the win, and that will give him confidence for the remainder of the tournament.

His form has been a little patchy since the US Open, but the manner of that win may just give him the boost he needs to go deep in the competition this week.

He takes on Jerome Kym, who was buoyed by the home support on his way to a straight-sets win over Arthur Rinderknech.

This will be a completely different proposition for Kym, however, as he will have to find a way to somehow handle Shelton’s ridiculously powerful serve. The match against Rinderknech was hardly ideal preparation for coming up against somebody like Shelton, and we cannot see Kym causing the American many problems. Expect a routine straight-sets win for Shelton.
