Arthur Fils vs Taylor Fritz prediction

Fils was already assured of his place at the ATP Finals before his match against Tomas Machac, thanks to results elsewhere, but he still produced the goods to win 6-3, 7-6.

Fils has become the first Frenchman to qualify for the ATP Finals since Gael Monfils in 2016, but he clearly still wants to perform in front of his home crowd.

He takes on Taylor Fritz for the second time in a week, with Fritz leading 6-2, 2-0 when Fils retired in Basel last week. The Frenchman said he was fit enough to play this week and has shown no signs of being affected.

On the contrary, it is Fritz who is struggling, with a right arm problem that has needed medical attention over the last couple of days. For the second match in a row he lost the first set, this time against Alex Molcan, before fighting back to win 6-7, 7-5, 7-6.

Fritz has now been involved in two three-set slogs, and it will be interesting to see whether his arm continues to plague him. He has been playing some great tennis of late, but that is a major concern for us, and it does seem to be impacting his performance.

He will not be so fortunate against Fils, who is also playing really well. We can see the tables being turned from Basel last week, with Fils getting the win in front of his home crowd.
