Simona Waltert vs Lucrezia Stefanini prediction

Simona Waltert won her first-round match in Chennai after beating Sahaja Yamalapalli in three sets. Waltert conceded 17 break point opportunities and was broken on four occasions but still came through to win 6-4 3-6 6-3 after two hours and 56 minutes. That result ended a three-match losing run for the Swiss. Waltert will be hoping to reach the quarter-finals of a WTA event for just the third time in his career, and the first time since the Iasi Open in 2025.

She faces Lucrezia Stefanini next. The Italian easily won in the previous round, following a 6-2 6-2 victory over Rada Zolotareva. Stefanini converted six of nine break point opportunities, completing the win after an hour and 27 minutes. 

Both players will be eyeing a deep run at this WTA event, but Stefanini produced the far more polished display in the first-round of this event. She will look to create plenty of chances on the Waltert serve.
