Alexandra Eala eased to a routine win over Emerson Jones to kick off her bid for glory in Hong Kong.

The second seed was rarely troubled against the Aussie teenager as she notched up a 6-4 6-3 success.

The Filipina will now meet another teen in the shape of 19-year-old Tereza Valentova, who despatched Himeno Sakatsume 6-3 7-5.

This will be their third meeting and the Czech has perhaps surprisingly won both previous encounters in straight sets, including a 7-6 6-1 triumph in Doha this year.

Eala will be expected to make it third time lucky here and the odds don’t favour that narrative, so take a risk on Tereza to make it uncomfortable and perhaps snare another upset.
