Alex Molcan vs Taylor Fritz prediction
Alex Molcan has come through three rounds to reach this stage, overcoming Daniel Altmaier and Nuno Borges in qualifying before beating Titouan Droguet in the first round on Monday.
He will be delighted with his performances so far, but the 28-year-old now faces a major step up as he comes up against Taylor Fritz. The pair have met once before, at Wimbledon in 2022, when Fritz won in straight sets.
Fritz will be hoping to have shaken off the right arm trouble that affected him in the first set of his match against Bonzi on Tuesday. He lost the opener and was clearly troubled, but a medical timeout helped him manage the pain, and he bounced back to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Fritz will be keen to do well this week, so it was interesting to see him push through the pain rather than ease off the gas, which would have been understandable at this point of the season.
Molcan is playing really well at the moment, but Fritz should be too good for him, and we fully expect the American to progress.
