Talia Gibson will look to crack the Aliaksandra Sasnovich when they lock horns in Hong Kong.

The Aussie has lost their two previous meetings in straight sets, including a 6-1 6-4 defeat in Beijing in September.

Fifth seed, Gibson edged her opener with Oleksandra Oliynykova before powering clear to post a 7-6 6-1 victory, while qualifier Sasnovich motored to a 6-3 6-2 win at the expense of Katie Volynets.

Talia sits over 60 places better off in the rankings, but that hasn’t been significant in their two meetings – both taking place since May – so there is very much scope for another upset.

It may well be the match-up doesn’t sit well with the Aussie and that first set is going to be crucial to her belief. While we think she may well have done her analysis to make it third time lucky, we also reckon it’s worth a punt on the shock given their previous tussles.
