Quentin Halys vs Frances Tiafoe prediction

Quentin Halys had to dig deep on Tuesday to overcome a stubborn Arthur Fery. There was very little between the two players, but Halys did well on his own serve and held off the Brit at the key moments, before a late break sealed the match.

Halys enjoyed playing in front of the home fans, and that win will only motivate him further, as it was his first ever main-draw win at this tournament, at his eighth appearance.

He comes up against seventh seed Frances Tiafoe, whose form has been pretty mediocre since his run to the semi-finals at the US Open. Tiafoe has not won a match in Paris since his run to the quarter-finals in 2022, and his recent performances in Asia and in Vienna were not overly inspiring, so it will be interesting to see how motivated he is coming into this one. It is very much a case of waiting to see which version of Tiafoe turns up here.

The duo have never played each other on the ATP Tour and have not met since the Challenger circuit back in 2017, with Halys winning three of their four meetings. We cannot read too much into that, however.

It is Tiafoe who comes into this as the favourite, but we do not love backing him at the prices here. Halys has that little bit more going for him, along with the home support, and he is our pick to win this one, although we would proceed with caution.

We do not have enough confidence to back Halys outright, but we can see some long, drawn-out sets here, and it is the overs in the game betting that take our fancy.
