Moyuka Uchijima vs Magda Linette prediction

Moyuka Uchijima won her fourth tour-level match of the season after comfortably defeating Rebecca Sramkova in the first-round of the Chennai Open. The Japanese player saved six out of seven break point opportunities on her way to winning 6-3 6-2 after just 67 minutes on court. Uchijima has won two lower-level titles in 2026, and she will now be hoping to advance to the quarter-finals of a WTA event for the first time since Rouen last year.

She goes up against third seed Magda Linette next. The 34-year-old was far from her best in the previous round but overcame Aliona Falei. Linette dropped the second set but responded well in the third to win 7-6 (3) 5-7 6-2.

There will be pressure on Linette as the favourite, and she has failed to win consecutive matches on the WTA Tour since June. Nevertheless, I do expect her to have too much for Uchijima in the round-of-16.
