Ben Shelton vs Arthur Rinderknech prediction
All the chat around Ben Shelton this week has been about the news that Carlos Alcaraz’s former coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, is joining his coaching team for 2027. It is an interesting move, and it will be interesting to see how he performs with that in the background.
Shelton eased past Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-4 to earn his place in the Round of 16, and he now faces Arthur Rinderknech.
Rinderknech saw his opponent, Francisco Cerundolo, retire in the deciding set of their first-round match, but he had no such troubles in the second round on Wednesday as he swept past Mattia Bellucci 6-4, 6-1. The Frenchman’s performance was excellent all round, but Bellucci was way off form, and Rinderknech took full advantage to ease to victory.
This will not be quite so easy against the formidable Shelton. The American will be eager to impress, and with the number of seeds dropping out this week, he will view this as an opportunity to go deep.
It is hard to make a case for Rinderknech, although he will have the home crowd on his side. Ultimately though, we expect Shelton to have too much in his locker, and we expect the American to progress.
