Carol Foro (9-1) makes her Octagon debut and will be looking to extend her eight-fight winning streak. After earning her shot via Dana White's Contender Series last September, she now makes her UFC debut and the big puncher will looking to impress and ultimately get the victory.
Giovanna Canuto: Fellow Brazilian also looking for debut win
Giovanna Canuto (7-1) is also making her Octagon debut on Saturday and the Brazilian 23-year-old will be just as fired up to take on compatriot Foro. Canuto has a completely different style to her fellow Brazilian and she will surely be looking to dominate with her wrestle and get this fight to the mat as soon as possible.
Carol Foro vs Giovanna Canuto prediction
This is an intriguing clash of styles to get us underway at The APEX on Saturday as big-hitting Carol Foro takes on submission-specialist Giovanna Canuto. The two Brazilians are making their debut in the Octagon and it will be interesting to see who can overcome any nerves and then impose their will on the other.
Foro is six years older than Canuto and will be hoping that experience serves her well. Canuto really needs to get this fight to the mat as soon as possible and avoid striking with Foro but her opponent will be all too aware of that.
Foro should behave good enough takedown defence to not fall into that trap but it will be interesting to see if she can connect with her opponent. Canuto's workrate may allow her to evade the striking and may eventually wear Foro down.
The oddsmakers favour Foro substantially here but we are not so confident, nor is there enough value to consider her. We do like Canuto's chances of taking this fight the distance and at that point, the fight could be anybody's.
