An unranked welterweight scrap with no divisional implications, but the styles of both fighters suggest it should be a banger, as undefeated prospect Ty Miller takes on the heavy-handed Billy Ray Goff.

Billy Ray Goff: Pressure fighter needing a change of result

Billy Ray Goff (9-4) is the bigger puncher on paper, with seven of his nine wins coming by KO, and he always puts the pace and pressure on his opponents. The Connecticut man earned his contract on the Contender Series and stopped Yusaku Kinoshita inside a round on debut in Singapore, but he’s 1-2 in the promotion since and hasn’t fought since May 2025, when Ramiz Brahimaj caught him with a standing Guillotine in the first round. Goff fights with a more square stance and works in a Muay Thai style, utilising his elbows and throwing knees in the pocket up close.

Ty Miller: “Thriller” looks to keep the perfect record intact

Ty Miller (7-0) could hardly have scripted a better arrival, opening the UFC’s Paramount era at UFC 324 by dropping Adam Fugitt with a straight right before finishing him with a second left in the first round, banking the first knockout and bonus of the new broadcast deal. Miller is a good boxer who has been blessed with a rangy build that complements his style, standing 6’2” with a 77-inch reach. He throws in high volume, has decent pop, good precision and timing, and stays composed even when he’s trading in the pocket.

Billy Ray Goff vs Ty Miller prediction

This isn’t a great matchup for Goff. He wants to walk his opponents down, but against a fighter with the better striking ability, the better timing, and better decisions on the feet, that pressure could get him in trouble.

Miller sticks predominantly behind his straight shots and utilises his range, and he has four inches of height and five of reach to work with here. He throws some kicks but not many compared to his boxing, and he doesn’t rush for the finish either, keeping his pace consistent until he sees a good opening to apply more pressure. His boxing is tight, he defends punches well with his guard and slight head movement, and he throws a lot of 1-2s, 2s, and 3-2s when the opponent cuts the angle. If the opponent is in the pocket he’ll frame out for more heavy shots, ending combos close with a downward hook thrown from a higher angle.

Goff’s best chance is pressing Miller up to the fence where he has no more room to back up, then initiating the clinch to do his work with the shorter shots and knees. He has decent head movement but it gets a bit predictable, dipping down a lot, and Miller will start getting a read on it and stick out the jab or land a heavier straight before Goff is ever in range to slip and rip his hook.

It’s a good test for the prospect, but I think Miller catches him at the tip of his range and starts piecing him up. A volume finish in the second is live.

Prediction: Ty Miller to win
