Salisbury vs Sholing prediction

Salisbury have been one of the form sides in their division. They are fourth in the National League South, unbeaten in five league games with wins at Tonbridge Angels and Walton & Hersham in the past week, and they were ruthless in the qualifying rounds, scoring 12 goals in wins over Taunton Town (4-1), Dulwich Hamlet (5-0) and Eastbourne Borough (3-0).

Sholing are the cup specialists here, having won the 2013-14 FA Vase at Wembley, and their qualifying route was impressive. They beat Andover New Street 2-0 and Tiverton Town 1-0, then won 2-1 at National League South side Ebbsfleet United before a 2-0 win over SE Dons, conceding just once in four ties. Their league form is less convincing, with only one win in five and 13th place in the Southern League Premier South.

That contrast is the key. Sholing’s defence has been solid in cup games but they have conceded two or more goals in several league matches, including 3-2 against Chichester City, and they also lost 3-2 at Weymouth in the FA Trophy. Salisbury’s quality and goals should tell, and we expect the Whites to win in a high-scoring game.

Salisbury vs Sholing tip: Salisbury to win & over 2.5 goals
