Hugo Gaston will be eager to entertain when he engages Juan Manuel Cerundolo in a battle of the lefties.
The talented Frenchman is appearing in Marrakesh for the third year in a row with a second-round appearance in 2023 his best showing so far.
Gaston is a three-time Challenger winner on clay but failed to win a match during the South American clay swing prior to reaching the second round at Indian Wells and Miami respectively.
The 24-year-old is ranked 44 places above the Argentine and won their only previous meeting 6-4 6-2 on clay in Gstaad back in 2021.
Cerundolo’s season has pretty much seen him focused on tournaments played on the dirt with his best result coming in a semi-final charge in Cordoba at the start of March.
However, the 23-year-old has 0-2 record against fellow lefties and we think that winless run will continue against Gaston whose variety and flair should prove too good for the world number 128.
