Still under the management of former Australia boss Graham Arnold, Iraq will seek to use a fairly chastening FIFA World Cup campaign as useful experience to improve, having conceded 12 goals in their group of Senegal, Norway and France.
Oman most recently hammered Mozambique by four goals to one in Indonesia in June, with the Omanis having won two, drawn two and lost two of their last six matches, including an exit at the group stages of the FIFA Arab Cup in late-2025.
Oman will believe they can be competitive but Iraq are the stronger of the two sides and will now be able to play with more attacking endeavour in contrast to their summer exploits.
