Ugo Humbert vs Corentin Moutet prediction
Ugo Humbert continues to struggle with a hand injury that has halted his progress during his clay court season. He fell to an early defeat to Alexandre Muller in round two of Madrid, losing 6-2 6-7 7-6. He has just one win from his previous five matches and has never seemed truly comfortable on clay throughout his career.
Corentin Moutet came from a set down to beat Rinky Hijikata 2-6 6-1 7-5 in a close match to make the second-round. It was on serve in the decider until the very end, with the Frenchman claiming a late break to pick up just his second career win in Rome.
These two players have not faced each other on the main tour but did meet in a qualifying match at the Paris Masters in 2022, with Moutet winning on that occasion. It remains to be seen how much of issue Humbert’s injury will have on his performance in his second-round match and we could see this going all the way.
