Jiri Prochazka: The last samurai looking to reclaim his throne
Jiri Prochazka (32-5-1) has been at the summit of the light heavyweight division for some time now and continues to improve despite his unorthodox approach. Most recently he demonstrated a new dimension to his game, incorporating effective head movement into a style previously built almost entirely on chaos and durability. He has finished every opponent he's faced in the UFC apart from two-time champion Alex Pereira. The Czech fighter is one of the most dynamic and powerful strikers in MMA - light on his feet, comfortable in both stances, and capable of launching strikes from any angle at any moment. Jiri's hands sit low and he absorbs punishment willingly, almost deliberately, before suddenly flicking the switch and hunting the finish with relentless power. His only kryptonite appears to be Alex Pereira, the one man who has consistently had his number, but against everyone else at 205, Jiri is an absolute nightmare.
Carlos Ulberg: New Zealand's finest ready to claim his first UFC gold
Carlos Ulberg (13-1) has developed into one of the most well-rounded light heavyweights in the division, currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. The City Kickboxing product is light on his feet, technically disciplined, and carries a lot of speed in his leg kicks, switch kicks, and jab. His boxing defence is fundamentally sound, he keeps his guard tight on his rear side while countering with his lead, and circles out effectively to land the check hook when opponents push him to the fence. His last three wins have come over Oezdemir, Blachowicz, and most recently a first-round KO of Dominick Reyes. The unknown remains how his speed and volume hold up across the full five championship rounds. Win or lose on Saturday, Ulberg looks destined to be a fixture at the top of this division for years to come.
Jiri Prochazka vs Carlos Ulberg prediction
This will be a great title fight. Ulberg is fast, technically disciplined, and has the tools to make Prochazka's early rounds very uncomfortable. His movement and check hook off the fence pose problems for a fighter who charges forward with his hands low.
The complication is that Jiri doesn't fight like he cares about the scorecards. He'll have rounds where he barely throws, drifting around the cage almost disengaged, and then without warning he'll flip the switch and come hunting with suffocating pressure. The unpredictability is incredibly difficult to prepare for - Ulberg could be winning on the cards comfortably and still find himself in serious danger the moment Jiri decides it's time. Ulberg's tendency to get caught in extended combinations only adds to that concern, giving Prochazka the openings he needs to land his big shots. He did exactly that to Rountree, absorbing punishment across two rounds before turning on the relentless pressure in the third. Over five championship rounds, it's hard to see Ulberg surviving that inevitability. Watch the Czech samurai get it done.
Prediction: Jiri Prochazka to win by KO/TKO
