Cub Swanson: 42-year-old returns for retirement bout
Cub Swanson (30-14) returns to the Octagon for one final fight as the veteran takes on Nate Landwehr at UFC 327. Swanson’s last fight came 18 months ago when he delivered an outstanding knockout to Billy Quarantillo at UFC on ESPN 63. That takes him to five wins and three defeats in his last eight bouts, but at the age of 42, there is little doubt that Swanson is retiring at the right time.

Nate Landwehr (18-7) enters this fight off successive knockout losses so the 37-year-old will be desperate to get back to winning ways here. His last fight was in July 2025 when he was stopped by Morgan Charrière and despite the defeat, it was yet another Fight of the Night display. That is why he has been chosen for Swanson’s last dance as the veterans will look to put on an entertaining fight.

The final fight of Cub Swanson's illustrious career is upon us at UFC 327 and his opponent has been handpicked to ensure his final fight is a barnstormer.
Nate Landwehr it is tough as they come and just like Swanson, is a fighter who likes to go out on his shield. He comes off successive losses but has arguably faced tougher opponents than Swanson in recent times.
It is hard to like a fighter in their retirement bout especially after not fighting for almost 18 months as is the case with Swanson. We know he will put everything into this final fight but at 42 and after a long layoff, it is hard to make a case for him in this fight.
We do not have much confidence in Landwehr after his last two knockout losses, but he needs the win desperate here if he is to stay relevant and the featherweight division.
With all that in mind, our preference is for Landwehr to edge to victory in a fight that is very likely to go distance.
