Kelvin Gastelum: Vet targeting back-to-back wins for first time since 2018
It is easy to forget that Kelvin Gastelum (20-10 with one no contest) is only 34-years-old but the Californian has been in the UFC for some 13 years now. His form in recent times has faded badly and he has lost seven of his last 11 bouts but he does come off a unanimous decision victory over Dustin Stoltzfus last September. He will be aiming to build on that here as he looks to win successive fights for the first time since 2017/18 when he beat Michael Bisping and Ronaldo Souza in back-to-back fights when he was at the top of his game.
Vicente Luque: Brazilian under pressure to avoid third loss in a row
Vicente Luque (23-12-1) is coming off successive losses at the hands of Kevin Holland and Joel Alvarez in 2025, so the 36-fight veteran will be hoping to get back to winning ways here. Those losses mean Luque has now lost five of his last seven and he could really do with a victory at UFC 327.
Kelvin Gastelum vs Vicente Luque prediction
The prelims has a cracker of a fight on the card at UFC 327 as veterans Kelvin Gastelum and Vicente Luque with both fighters in need of a win.
Both men have slid down the pecking off in recent years due to a series of defeats but they still remain relevant as they almost always put on a show when they enter the Octagon.
Luque has shown signs of just easing up stylistically a little after a couple of knockout losses to Geoff Neal and Joaquin Buckley and he may well fight that fraction more conservatively in order not to expose his chin.
Gastelum does not possess overly explosive power anyway and 10 of his last 12 fights have gone the distance.
There is every chance that this one goes the distance too. We can see an entertaining back-and-forth fight between two storied veterans but it is hard to see either getting the stoppage so we expect the fight to go to the judges’ scorecards.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
