MarQuel Mederos: 29-year-old seeking tenth successive victory

MarQuel Mederos (11-1) has some real momentum behind him at the moment having won his last nine professional MMA fights. He earned his shot in the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series in October 2023 and has since gone on to win his first three fights in the promotion. With every victory, the calibre of opponent continues to increase and he faces a tough assignment at UFC 327 as he takes on Chris Padilla.

Chris Padilla: ‘Taco’ looks to extend seven-fight win streak

Chris Padilla (17-6) has also shown no signs of slowing down despite joining the UFC as he has reeled off four successive wins since joining the promotion. His TKO win over Ismael Bonfim last time out was one of the best of his career so far and he will be looking to build on that against Mederos at UFC 327.

MarQuel Mederos vs Chris Padilla prediction

We have a fascinating matchup in the lightweight division as MarQuel Mederos takes on Chris Padilla in a battle of two surging fighters.

Both are enjoying relatively long winning streaks and one of those has to end which makes this bout all the more intriguing.

Padilla is getting better with age and he arguably has more ways to win this bout. He has good power along with some decent submission skills which make him a threat both on the ground and standing.

Mederos is technically impressive and possess solid enough knockout power although that has not fully translated into the UFC just yet and is something to be wary of.

Our marginal preference is with Padilla in this one. Both have momentum, but we like the well-rounded threats that he offers to get the win at some stage.

Prediction: Chris Padilla to win
