Sassuolo preview: Strong Sassuolo

Following promotion to the top-flight last season, Sassuolo have been much-improved of late as they sit tucked inside the top-half of the table with eight games to go in the 2025/26 Serie A campaign.

Fabio Grosso's side come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Juventus a couple of weeks ago at the Allianz Stadium with Andrea Pinamonti scoring a second-half equaliser for the visitors after Kenan Yildiz had opened the scoring.

Cagliari preview: Struggling Sardinians

Cagliari begin this weekend's round of fixtures sitting just three points above the bottom three and the relegation places after a very average recent run of form, with the pressure now growing on manager Fabio Pisacane.

The Sardinians went into the break on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to defending champions Napoli a couple of weeks ago with a second minute winner scored by Scotland international midfielder Scott McTominay.

Sassuolo team news: Several doubts

Sassuolo are dealing with several injury doubts for this weekend as Woyo Coulibaly is potentially unavailable alongside the likes of Nemanja Matic and Alieu Fadera.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Ulisses Garcia; Vranckx, Kone, Bakola; Berardi, Pinamonti, Volpato

Unavailable: Cande (Injured), Pieragnolo (Injured)

Questionable: Turati (Injured), Coulibaly (Injured), Boloca (Injured), Matic (Injured), Thorstvedt (Injured), Fadera (Injured)

Cagliari team news: Dossena suspended

Cagliari are without defender Alberto Dossena as he is missing through suspension, while experienced Italy international striker Andrea Belotti is sidelined due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Luperto; Palestra, Adopo, Gaetano, Makoumbou, Deiola; Esposito, Folorunsho

Unavailable: Dossena (Suspended), Belotti (Injured), Borrelli (Injured), Felici (Injured)

Questionable: Idrissi (Injured)

Sassuolo vs Cagliari prediction

That defeat for Cagliari means that they have now endured three successive losses and they are now winless in their last seven matches. Sassuolo are chasing European qualification and, with their home advantage, they will be expected to win this one and win it potentially quite comfortably in Reggio-Emilia.

Sassuolo vs Cagliari tip: Sassuolo to win
