Stuttgart preview: Bundesliga woes

Stuttgart continues to try to balance their Bundesliga commitments with those of the Champions League, and recent results domestically have taken a turn for the worse, Sebastian Hoeness’s side having lost three of their last four league fixtures.

Their most recent defeat came away to Hamburg by a goal to nil. They responded well in the Champions League midweek, drawing 1-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. If they can replicate those performance levels here, they stand a great chance of victory.

Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Still no points

It’s six games played now and still no points for Borussia Monchengladbach, with their latest defeat perhaps being the most damaging. In a bottom-of-the-table clash with Hoffenheim, the hosts wound up on the losing side, cutting them adrift of another potential relegation rival.

Gladbach are now five points adrift of safety and with no light at the end of the tunnel. They’ve conceded 20 goals, by far the most of any Bundesliga club, while scoring just eight times themselves.

Stuttgart team news: New addition to treatment table

After being forced off in midweek, Joshua Vagnoman won’t play any part in this game, joining the likes of Tomas, Nartey and Zagadou on the sideline for Stuttgart.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Seimen; Assignon, Jeltsch, Chabot, Hendriks; Karazor, Stiller; Leweling, Undav, Fuhrich; Demirovic

Unavailable: Diehl (Injured), Malanga (Injured), Nartey (Injured), Tomas (Injured), Vagnoman (Injured), Zagadou (Injured)

Borussia Monchengladbach team news: Injury list remains large

Borussia Monchengladbach’s troubles are not helped by their list of injuries, which remains significant. Castrop, Honorat, Kleindienst and Leopard are all out to name just four, as is Lidberg.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Nicolas; Sander, Diks, Chiarodia; Scally, Uno, Neuhaus, Ullrich; Bolin, Machino, Mohya

Unavailable Castrop (Injured), Honorat (Injured), Itakura (Injured), Kleindienst (Injured), Leopold (Injured), Leszczynski (Injured), Lidberg (Injured)

Stuttgart vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction

If Stuttgart cannot come out on top in this match, serious questions must begin to be asked of Hoeness and his squad. They are stronger in every department than Gladbach and have home advantage on their side. The key is that they avoid any complacency, and you would expect that when considering their own recent struggles

For Borussia Monchengladbach, nothing is going right, and an early goal for Stuttgart could lead to this being a long 90 minutes for the visitors. Back victory for Hoeness’ men, and expect it by a comfortable margin.
