Melbourne Victory vs Melbourne City prediction

The pressure is on both Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City after each began the new Australian A-League campaign with defeat in the first round of fixtures. Melbourne Victory went down 2-1 away to Wellington Phoenix, whilst Melbourne City were also on the road against reigning champions Auckland FC, where they lost 3-1. It's clear that both Melbourne teams will need to tighten up defensively and that should be the priority for the two head coaches to fix.

Assuming we see an improved showing from both backlines, chances could be hard to come by for these two sides. The threat of losing a derby fixture and the effect that can have on the dressing room means neither are likely to take many risks that could see them punished by the opposition. It would be no surprise to see the two rivals unable to be separated.
