This game gives us our first look at Adelaide United following a successful campaign last year, which saw them finish second in the regular season table. However, they were beaten in the semi-finals over two legs by eventual champions Auckland FC. They travel to a Sydney FC side who played out a hard-fought, goalless draw with Western Sydney Wanderers in their first game of the new campaign.
Sydney FC have shown that they’ll be a tough nut to crack and that their back line is difficult to break through. For Adelaide, we may not see the best of them early on, as it could take them a little time to mesh together as a unit. Therefore, goals could be in short supply between the two clubs, and backing under 2.5 of them warrants serious consideration.
