RB Leipzig have bounced back from their last two league defeats with victory in the following round and they look to do the same again at home to SV Elversberg.

RB Leipzig preview: Continued inconsistency

For the third time this season, RB Leipzig failed to back up a Bundesliga victory and fell to defeat in the following game. This time around, it was Bayern Munich responsible for the loss and it was a bad one. For the second consecutive campaign, the Rekordmeister thrashed Leipzig, this time by 6-1. The result did serious damage to Leipzig’s goal difference and saw them drop out of the European places entirely.

However, they do deserve credit for responding well to defeat, having won their last two league matches immediately following a loss. Beating SV Elversberg would make it a hat-trick on that front and it is a must-win game for Martin Demichelis’ men.

SV Elversberg preview: Back in the win column

Anyone who thought SV Elversberg’s recent downturn in Bundesliga results would see them drop down the table like a stone was proven wrong last weekend. The newly promoted side got back to winning ways in some style, defeating Augsburg 4-3 in an absolute thriller.

Of Elversberg’s six league fixtures this season, they have won three, drawn one and lost two. Vincent Wagner’s remain inside the top six heading into this latest round of fixtures, which sees them try to take a big scalp.

RB Leipzig vs SV Elversberg prediction

One thing that has typified SV Elversberg’s season so far has been their lack of fear. They won’t be afraid of RB Leipzig and will do everything they can to take the game to the home side, pushing bodies forward whenever possible despite the threat posed by their opponents.

However, they are facing a team notoriously good at home, whether in the Bundesliga or the Champions League. RB Leipzig have been perfect at the Red Bull Arena this season, and it would be a big surprise if that changed here. They boast a stronger squad than their opponents, and that gulf in quality should tell over the course of 90 minutes.
