Monaco preview: Beaten last week

Following the appointment of former Flamengo boss Filipe Luis over the summer, Monaco began this season very well and they remain one of five teams beginning this weekend sitting level on 14 points at the top-of-the-table.

The Monegasque did succumb to their first defeat of the season, though, last weekend as they were beaten 1-0 by Lorient at Stade du Moustoir due to a 61st minute penalty scored by midfielder Noah Cadiou.

Lille preview: Fading fast

Lille also took a bit of a risk in the summer with the appointment of Davide Ancelotti and, like Monaco, things began brightly for the northerners but performances and results have now begun to tail off.

That continued in midweek as Lille were eased past by Turkish champions Galatasaray by four goals to two in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League; making it three defeats from three in that competition thus far this season.

Monaco team news: Couple of injuries

The Monegasque have a couple of injury absentees for this one with experienced England international Eric Dier remaining sidelined alongside winger Stanis Idumbo.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hradecky; Vanderson, Sane, Salisu, Nazinho; Camara, Zakaria; Minamino, Golovin, Ansu Fati; Brunner

Unavailable: Dier (Injured), Stanis Idumbo (Injured)

Questionable:

Lille team news: Sahraoui a doubt

Key winger Osame Sahraoui is now a doubt for Lille this weekend with big money summer signing Japan international striker Ayase Ueda remaining sidelined due to a foot injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ozer; Goffi, Ngoy, Alexsandro, Perraud; Andre, Bentaleb; Mbappe, Haraldsson, Bakwa; Giroud

Unavailable: Santos (Injured), Igamane (Injured), Ueda (Injured)

Questionable: Sahraoui (Injured)

Monaco vs Lille prediction

Monaco did bounce back from that aforementioned loss in Lorient in midweek as they hammered last season’s UEFA Europa League runners-up and Bundesliga high-flyers Freiburg in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League, courtesy of goals scored by Paris Brunner, Lamine Camara and Ansu Fati. They will be confident that performances have remained steadily strong and consistent in contrast to those of Lille and so siding with the hosts would be the way to go for this one on Sunday.

Monaco vs Lille tip: Double chance – Monaco to win or draw
