Celta Vigo preview: In-form Celta

Celta Vigo come into this one on the back of a come from behind 2-1 defeat of Scottish champions Celtic in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League the other day, courtesy of a brace scored by defender Javi Rodriguez.

The Galicians headed into that one on the back of a much-needed second victory of the league campaign, too, at the weekend as they defeated Deportivo Alaves by two goals to one with Javi Rodriguez scoring the decisive one in that one, too.

Real Betis preview: Brilliant Betis

Real Betis have been brilliant at the start of this season as they begin the match day sitting tucked inside the top three in La Liga after a fun start, albeit they were beaten 5-2 by defending champions and league leaders Barcelona last weekend.

Los Verdiblancos overcame that defeat with a win in midweek as they edged past Dutch giants Feyenoord by a goal to nil at La Cartuja in Seville, courtesy of a 59th minute penalty scored by club captain Isco.

Celta Vigo team news: A few injuries

Celta are dealing with a few injuries for this one as Carl Starfelt has now been joined on the sidelines by the versatile Alvaro Nunez and FIFA World Cup 2026 winner Borja Iglesias.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Radu; Javi Rodriguez, Yoel Lago, Marcos Alonso; Hugo Alvarez, Aleix Febas, Ilaix Moriba, Sergio Carreira; Driouech, Ferran Jutgla, Iago Aspas

Real Betis team news: Facundo Bernal suspended

Uruguayan midfielder Facundo Bernal was sent off last week and so he is missing through suspension with key injuries such as left-back Junior Firpo and striker Cucho Hernandez, who sustained a calf issue in midweek.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alex Valles; Hector Bellerin, Diego Llorente, Victor Gomez, Fran Garcia; Dani Ceballos, Marc Roca; Pablo Fornals, Isco, Abde Ez; Parrott

Unavailable: Junior Firpo (Injured), Facundo Bernal (Suspended), Cucho (Injured)

Celta Vigo vs Real Betis prediction

Real Betis have moved to nine points from nine in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and the Andalusians are now in a legitimate hunt for a top eight spot in that competition. Celta have grown into the campaign after, like last season, beginning with too many draws at the start of the campaign. The two sides have balanced coaches that can produce fairly pragmatic and more controlled football but, both in-form, both teams scoring may well be a decent bet for this one.
